Omgg another ultimate place! Welcomed by red walls and the best little Mariachi band serenading you while you walk to your table, you feel immediately at home. They have a cool dining room with an all you can eat buffet but also an adorable patio area where the band is, with this cute little fountain and other surrounding tables. It is open, homey, warm and welcoming- My gosh, and so sooo good.

Mamma mia, Mamma mia, Mamma miaaaaa- this place is beyond!
Soooo what do we have here you ask? Well let me tell you:
Fist we have an amazing Scallop Ceviche; A very simple recipe that you could even make at home! Fresh, raw, sliced jumbo scallops, cucumber, red onion, avocado, pepper, oil and lemon (which cook the scallops). Seriously the simplest yet best dish ever- an explosion of citrus at first bite makes this the perfect summer dish.
Then we have the incredible Smoked Shrimp Taco; God this is good. You have shrimp, avocado, peppercorns, and a light Pasilla Chili inside, wrapped in crepes instead of taco shells, and all held by a banana leaf! Of course, you can’t eat anything in Oaxaca without an extra side of dipping Pasilla Chili Sauce.
Banana leaves you ask? Yep! That is also what they use to actually cook the Suckling Pig; This pig is the most magical thing I have ever put in my mouth hahah (ya ya, that’s what she said…) but for real- I had 2. It’s so tender, it melts in your mouth. They slow roast this pig inside of a banana leaf and hang it over the flat grill that they use to make the Tlayuda torilla for about a day so. You can only imagine- mouthwatering.
For the finale, a nice Hibiscus Cheesecake; I’m not a huge dessert fan but am a huge cheesecake fan so I figured, why not?! It was aiiiight haha I am sure if I wasn’t so full I could have enjoyed it more but that definitely didn’t stop me from devouring it!
Thank you so much Catedral Restaurant for some of the most memorable plates ever!
Remember!! Book your flight to Oaxaca now!
