Dubai. Considered the “Beverly Hills of the Middle East” but instead, we decided to take the “Old Dubai” route. I wanted to see what else this amazing, fascinating world had to offer. Of course, we absolutely went to the newer, luxurious spots as well (can’t keep me away too long haha) but now you all get to see another side of Dubai. Check out Virgin Vacations for you next Dubai and Beyond Offers from £605!!
Starting with our hotel- We stayed at the gorgeous “Al Bandar Arjaan by Rotana”
Al Bandar over looks the Dubai Creek and is still extremely central. It is quiet, (actually the whole town, even downtown is quite- it’s freaky haha I never knew how used to chaos I was!!) gorgeous and very close to the Abra Boat Station, the metro and of course, this town also has my beloved Uber.
Once you exit the hotel, you have a beautiful nice 10min walk to the Abra Boat Station. On the way, you will see how beautiful the streets of Dubai are. Once you get to the station, we took the ferry, or the boat of death haha to the old souqs. Souqs are the traditional markets where you will find all kinds of spices, creams made with camel milk, different foods and juices, traditional pashmina scarves and dresses and so, so much more.
After we shopped at the souqs, I tried all the creams and spices haha- I started, of course, to get hungry! I was looking at all these cool little restaurants on the water so I opted for one of those. We stopped at Golden Fish and had the best possible lunch ever!! We had typical Middle Eastern food and my gosh, it was to DIE FOR- I highly recommend this place.. only thing that sucks is that they aren’t allowed to serve alcohol!!! Alcohol is only in hotels.. aaaaah me without wine??? sheesh kabob!!
What to order?
So amazing, you won’t be sorry!
*Lentil Makhani
*Dynamite Shrimp
*Beef Arayes (or chicken)
*Moutabal
If you ever do find yourself in Dubai (oh and I am sure that you will as it is the new world) don’t forget that there is much more to offer than just glitz and glamour. Stop by the Old Souq station and grab a hotel in the Deira/Creek area! Now, you all know I can’t keep away from the glitz and the glamour, so follow me to the other side- The New Dubai♥
