OOOOOO Maaaan, did I just love Omanย โฅ A little Middle Eastern gem that is absolutely worth seeing. Next vacation I am on, I will be sure to stay here for at least a week. What a beautiful place. They are sweet, clean, civilized, they love tradition and family. Just like the people in Dubai/Abu Dhabi love their Skeikh, people in Oman too have so much love for their Sultan that that love shines in the whole entire town.

Once we arrived we went and walked along the marina where we saw this huge boat that caught your eye. It is the #5 most expensive yacht was haha my god..it belonged to their Sultan of Oman and wow, what a guy he is. The people love him so much and vice versa. Here I was thinking, “oh just another greedy man” but was I wrong. He has done so much for this town and his people that the respect for him is unreal. He doesn’t have any family at all so for him, he does everything for his people. He is huge on education too so he pays for all kids who cant afford to go to college, to go out to the country of their choice to study abroad for a year. If and when you get into college from there, he refunds the whole family for every expense and pays for that person to go to school until they graduate. How amazing, civilized is that? The people here are so scared that he is sick and no one knows who his reign will eventually go to since he has no kids.. Ummm I will gladly take his reign if he’d like hahah especially his boats. Oh ya, and they’re 2- not even one.
At the marina, after I drooled over the yacht haha we did a little shopping ๐ There were all kinds of souqs here too and it was so nice. Here isn’t like Dubai where they hound you or attach you with pashmina scarves. Here they are nice, accommodating and graceful.. I bought some elephant pants, a cute little skirt and a cashmere scarf, all for $30- insane.
After a little shopping, here too, we got on the Hop on Hop off bus and it was perfect. We went around the whole entire city of Muscat and it was such a dream. It is literally a town build inside of mountains- it was wild. All these white homes and buildings of all kinds just surrounded by mountains. It was full of beautiful flowers, no trash on the floor, no honking, all kept up- it was just since a breath of fresh air this town. It was a cross between Greece, Spain but in the Middle East. We drove from one part of the city to the other, saw homes, shopping centers, the little beach town and so much more. I would extremely recommend going to Oman- they even have a nice, gorgeous, Grand Hyatt ๐ You can book either that hotel or any other one here.. ย
Sightseeing really does make me hungry though haha so right before we left, we of course had to eat!! We stopped right at this cute little restaurant near the water to eat a kebab!! My dad didn’t really know what that was and I was not about to leave the Middle East without eating one. Of course, once he saw how amazing mine was he got one too. We ordered a chicken and a mutton one and they both came with pita and hummus. They of course don’t drink any alcohol so we ordered these amazing fresh squeezed juices- pomegranate (amazing) and Cucumber (blllaaaaahhh). I added some of his pomegranate into mine and it was perfect ๐ Seriously, the perfect day.
Thank you Oman for a wonderful experience, I can’t wait to come back.
