The heart of pure Africa, Mombasa is exactly the Africa that I wanted to explore. The people, the traffic, the culture- Guys, from Italy to Las Vegas… I was totally in AFRICA!!! UNBELIEVABLE.
Mombasa has a huge central market, beautiful beaches and Haller Park. We went to the market of course (you all know how much I love my foods haha and then went straight to Haller Park. I just HAD to see some animals♥
We took a nice little Tuk Tuk and toured around the city and made it to the market. Tuk Tuks are the best to take around and the best part was that the drivers all speak Italian haha. What a beautiful little place. Everyone was smiling and laughing- they all sit on the streets and wait for money and for people to buy things and they are all the most grateful people in the world.
After some exploring- we finally made it back on our Tuk Tuk (that they had to push by hand in order to make it start haha) and headed over to Haller Park!! OMGGG I couldn’t wait to see a giraffe!! And I diiiiid!!!!
Ok ok, I will admit hahaha I was mortified at first- that giraffe is HUGE and his tongue was even bigger- and all black!! I thought he was going to eat my hand instead of my pebbles hahaha but once I got the hang of it, I didn’t want to leave him (or her) again!! I even started showing other people how to feed them and I even shared my pebbles- howww nice of me… haha!
The park was so cool- you enter and walk about 450 meters to the reception and there is where you are paired with a guide to take you around to see the animals. Each animal too has their certain feeding times. We saw snakes, monkeys everywhere, crocodiles, butterflies, and hippos. We didn’t get to see the bitch ass hippos though because they were sleeping under water. It is a huge park, and to think that 45 years ago, a man went there, planted 48 different tree species and this is what came out of it. Incredible. But the giraffes- that was my absolute highlight. I loved them so much.
But waaait, there was also something else that was NUUUTS! The monkeys!! They all had blue balls hahahah I don’t know what was with that but wow, I have never seen such blue bluuuue balls on an animal- Enjoy 🙂
