Whatever you have in mind about the Maldives, whatever you have seen- it is exactly as described. EXCEPT ONE VERY IMPORTANT THING- Maybe I am the only one who missed this?? But if you’re not in a resort, you CANNOT wear a bikini to the beach- it is strictly a muslim country, so you can only IMAGINE my struggle!! Mamma miaaaa….. Luckily though, I found all the “Bikini Beaches” they had and they were absolutely Gorgeous♥
Here, we arrived at the Capital of Male and on day one, we discovered Hululumalé. Day two, we went to the beautiful, private island of Gulhi. Once we got off our boat, we turn left and headed to the water taxi station to go to Hululumalé. The water taxi was $1 a person hahaha and I even got stopped by the police telling me that I had to cover up or I couldn’t stay on the island.. sheesh. Luckily I had my little scarf so we were on our way. 15 minutes later, we arrive in Hululumalé and grabbed the first taxi we could find, to take me us to the beach. The taxi ride too was a whopping $2!! I obviously had to ask for a tourist beach or they would chop my head off. We found one and of course I was the ONLY one in the water haha so I was in heaven. This lady on the other hand, I can’t even imagine… I get it, it is religion and culture but shit.. it was 1,000 degrees and we are almost in 2019 guys!
There isn’t too much going on in Hululumalé but as long as I was in the water, I was happy 🙂
We took a little walk around the town that was full of little shops and restaurants and saw so much coral in the water. It was so peaceful- I wish there were more people though haha and that I didn’t have to see these poor women in their wet burkas.. but I guess, that’s life! After some sightseeing in Hululumalé, the sunset was approaching so it was a perfect time for a coconut. They had regular ones that we are used to but they also had Sri Lanka ones too so I opted for that. Didn’t taste like anything hahahaha but the pulp was great!! Positive day in Hululumalé for sure, as you can tell in the photoshoot pops took of me- what a sport. He understands what has to be done for the gram!
Next, is the GORGEOUS island of Gulhi.
Once we got off our water taxi, there was a little stand there with people wanting to take us on a little tour. We went for it- took a speedboat 30 minutes away from Male (the capital) and enjoyed the most amazing white sand beach ever and a nice little plate of mixed fruit.
This was the perfect little island and it was pretty much all for us. I don’t think anyone lives on it as there was only one spot to rent water equipment and one little restaurant on the beach. Maldives is great if you are staying in a resort but other then that there isn’t really much else to do. If you like perfect relaxation, Maldives is the place to be!
Here are some photos to enjoy ♥
Thank you Maldives for the most wonderful day ever- can’t wait to be back, and hopefully for Valentina’s 30th!!
Next stop? SEYCHELLES!!!
