Los Danzantes– #1 BEST “Fine Dining” restaurant on Tripadvisor and Man, they are NOT kidding!!! Dining for real at its finest- the spices, the cheeses, the presentations, it is like a true explosion of flavors in your mouth. Every single dish we ordered was to DIE for. Where to begin about talking about this wonderful food… absolutely amazing. I don’t have 1st, 2nd, 3rd course here as sometimes Family Style is the way to go! So in order of the photos:
- The Shrimp Tlayuda; a Tlyuda is like a huge quesadilla stuffed with Oaxaca cheese, beans, cabbage, jumbo shrimp and a spice that you will eat everywhere in Oaxaca, “Pasilla Peppers.” For us in the USA, peppers are associated with spiciness but in Mexico it is associated with flavor. The Pasilla Peppers give this cuisine the most incredible flavors.
- Tortilla Soup; Mamma Mia, this soup. I am constantly trying to find the best Tortilla Soups and from the presentation to the taste, this by faaar beats them all.. OH EM GEE. Our server brought out the plate filled with carne asada, torilla strips, Oaxaca cheese and avocado- then came over to pour in the soup. The magic touch that surprised me the most was this weird crunch- the best crunch I have ever tasted and it was a pork rind!!! They put pork rinds in this soup and that’s what did it for me- it was INCREDIBLE, I had 2!!! Soups that is haha – I can eat!
- Carnitas Tacos; another beautiful dish that we enjoys so much- again you see these dark authentic tortillas, purple cabbage, the most tender pork in the world and of course a sauce made with the amazing Pasilla Peppers! A little lime and you’re ready for another explosion of taste.
- Black Sapote, Chocolate Mousse and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream; the name of it says it all. What a finishing touch to this amazing dinner- Black Sapote is a cross between a guava and a persimmon and it is black inside. There are white ones as well but the black is the hardest to find. We loved it so much that we went back the next day after our dinner to enjoy it with their house made Mezcal.
Thank you Los Danzantes for the most amazing culinary experience <3
